As of March 2015, the legal voters of the town voted to close the Bridgewater Village School and to merge with the Pomfret School.  The new school has been named The Prosper Valley School.  Contact # 457-1234.  Due to mold issues at the Prosper Valley School, all children have been transferred to the Woodstock Elementary School.

In 2016 the town voted to join the Modified unified Union School District (formally known as the Woodstock Union High School District) that became effective July 1, 2018.  The town will have two representatives sitting on the board that will be elected by Australian Ballot with staggering terms.  The current elected directors are:
